The Crisis of Physiology: Why Energy Is No Longer a Nice-to-Have

In 2015, I published an article in Tid & Tendenser, a Danish magazine on emerging trends. In it, I wrote:

“We are witnessing the emergence of an energy-bankrupt population on a global scale. This will have implications for us as a society and for companies that depend on human capital.”

I asked whether we would have to declare personal energy bankruptcy as we slowly burned out in the 21st-century work environment. Even my husband — a top executive — felt I was being too dramatic.

It is now 2026. I was not being dramatic.

Since that article: a global pandemic, climate crises, war, political upheaval, economic disruption, and the collapse of structures we assumed were permanent. One crisis after another with almost no recovery between them. The US Military calls this a VUCA environment — Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, Ambiguity. Even one of those conditions places enormous demands on the body. All four together are physiologically punishing.

I ended my 2015 article by asking: will we become a global society of zombies — not able to keep up with the pace of life, just surviving instead of living? In 2026, that question is no longer hypothetical.

The Crisis

Our world has grown more complex and demanding, requiring more energy than ever. But most people cannot supply it — because they do not know their body is an energy-producing system, they do not know how to activate it, and they do not know how to fuel it.

The result: we produce less personal energy in a time when we need more. The body shifts into emergency protocols — rationing energy for survival, leaving almost nothing for work, leadership, or life.

The Way Forward

For us to break through to a new level of performance, we need access to a new level of energy. Yesterday’s energy supply will at best be mediocre.

Today, you need what I call Long Haul Energy™ — your body’s own deep reserve system. Nearly bottomless, steady through the full day, and still there when you walk through your front door at night.

Restoring your access to it is the foundation of everything I do.
